Thurso, specifically East, is Scotland's premiere reef break, and the highlight of the Norse Shore.

Breaks

• Thurso East - a long, world class, right, barreling wave that loves a swell with a lot of W, and best around mid tide. Relatively easy, if tight, drop into one of the longest, hollowest, rides in Europe. Experts+.
• Shit Pipe - A-frame other side of the rivermouth, parking by harbour. Generally a couple of foot smaller and less critical. Mid to high. Better sheltered from south westerlies. Named after the river water colour, generally fine water quality. Intermediate+
• Beach very sheltered beachbreak, smaller again, good if reef is too crowded, advanced, or oversized. Mid best.
