Popular consistent Northumberland beachbreak that can offer a bit of shelter in winter swells. A-frame sand and reef bottom peaks up and down the beach. Lots to pick from, can handle a crowd. All tides. Best in a N->NE swell, with a SW/W offshore, but bit of a swell magnet.

  • Main beach - south from parking and generally a little more exposed, often with best sandbars around the rivermouth.
  • Link House - south again, so a little more exposed and often bigger. Long walk down, or alternative [parking](latlon:55.527519, -1.628572)
  • Harbour - harbour to north. Long left off small patch of reef breaking towards high that needs a big northerly swell to get going. Some shelter from northerly tailing winds.

Busy in summer, rocks & reef around, rips. Paid [parking](latlon:55.551964, -1.629041) and toilets. Camspite, cafe, pubs in town.
