Sheltered beachbreak on the French/Spanish border that works when everything else down the Basque Coast is maxing out or too big. West to east peaks tend to run smaller to bigger, and work better at high to low tides respectively.

Webcam

Peaks (W to E):

  • Jetty - left off jetty and a few A-frames on this section of the beach that work tide round, generally better towards high.
  • Casino - mid bay sandbar A-frames, mid tide.
  • Les Duex Jumeaux - low tide reef break that favours rights, to east end of bay.

When it gets huge there's some big wave options outside the bay, plus a novelty wave that can go a decent distance inside the jetty wall, for the mere mortals.

Can get packed out when on, as its some of the only shelter around. Roadside parking behind beach, campsites, shops, schools, cafes in town.
