Aberystwyth has several breaks in its two bays, with something working at all tides, but all intermediate+ minimum.

Breaks (N to S):

  • Queens - somewhat sheltered sandbar over reef left and right in the small bay at the north of Town Beach, works all tides bar high. Park on the seafront. Channel paddle out.
  • Bath Rocks - spring high tide only slab reef break mid Town Beach, offering a fast, walling, right and very occasionally a short, hollow left. Very shallow and sharp reef. Experts only.
  • The Wall - short, fast, left off castle wall north of South Beach, over sand and reef. Mid to high tide only.
  • Castle Point - fickle right pair to the wall.
  • Harbour Trap (the Trap) - A-frame (long left, short right) boulder reef at south end of South Beach, just north of the rivermouth, that's best around mid, and generally on the drop. Probably mid-wales' best well known wave. Rip from the river.
