Great Western is a fairly mediocre beachbreak that only really comes alive in bigger swells and SW storms. If too big, check out Towan, or too small, Tolcarne, Lusty Glaze, Porth in turn, plus the Newquay classics of Fistral and Watergate Bay. Some wind shelter, particularly as tide comes up. Hugely crowded in summer, when small, and parking can be a challenge.
