Llangennith is a huge stretch of consistent beachbreak that acts as the yardstick for the Gower - if 'gennith isn't working, nothing will be.
Peaks:
- Main beach - 5km stretch of peaks, often busiest near access path. Stream mouth can offer slightly more sculpted sandbars, along with more dubious water quality. Holds a crowd
- Three peaks - at far north end of bay - generally a bit larger and more shapely than the rest of the bay, but small takeoffs and busy, despite walk in. Intermediate+.
Works tide round, generally a bit better mid to high, and pretty huge tidal range so can be a trek at low. Punchier towards high, mellower towards low.
If slightly too big, or getting hit by S winds, check out Rhossili at the south end of the bay, in the shelter of the headland.
Notoriously hard paddle out once head high+, some rocks, wrecks, summertime crowds, jellies and water quality can be dubious particularly around the stream. Great beginner option when up to waist/chest high.
Paid parking, cafe/pub and campsite in the dunes. Great pub, and PJs Surf Shop in nearby village. Heaps of schools, coaches and board hire from the multitude of vans in the car park in summer season.
