Bamburgh is a popular Northumberland beachbreak, set against the stunning backdrop of Bamburgh castle. Split into two main sections - a NNE facing stretch to the north of the castle, and a ENE facing section heading south, towards Seahouses, it's a swell magnet of a spot that can break at all tides and handle a crowd.

Peaks:

• North Beach: exposed and best when looking for size, there's A-frame peaks up and down the bay, as well as a reef left infront of the anti tank blocks. SW/W wind.
• South Beach: sheltered thanks to facing direction and the farne islands, this section can be a haven when swell picks up, turns E, or when wind swings and blows out the northern aspect. S/SW wind.

Tide: All.

Swell: N/NE/E. Swell magnet, generally the best bet in small summer swells.

Wind: S/SW/W depending on beach.

Hazards: reef, rips, crowds.

Access, parking & facilities: paid parking along the Wynding for North Beach, and in dunes along Links road for South Beach. Height and length restrictions abound, locals don't like vans.
