Embleton Bay is one of the more consistent Northumberland beachbreaks, found in the lee of the spectacular Dunstanburgh Castle. Fairly uncrowded in the water thanks to busy, limited, parking and faffy access.

Breaks:

  • Main Beach: A frame sandy bottom peaks up and down the beach that can get hollow under a punchy NE swell, and can be found tide round.
  • The Point: somewhat fickly rocky right reef point off the southern headland. Experts only.

Tide: All. Tends to be shoredumpy at high.

Swell: N/NE/E. NE ideal, but bit of a local swell magnet.

Wind: SW/W

Hazards: rocks, rips.

Access, parking & facilities: paid/free parking at/opposite nearby golf course (be discrete!), not suitable for larger vans and a walk down.
