Bantham is one of the most consistent and popular breaks along the south Devon coast. Quality, thanks to the rivermouth, which grooms the nearby sandbars, but also delivers dubious water quality at times after rains (check out SSRS). Works around tide and best with a light NE offshore.

A-frames up and down, generally best around the rivermouth, particularly mid to high. The Bigbury end is generally a little smaller/more sheltered, and towards low tide a quality long peeling right off the island rocks often starts to work. Nearby Challaborough can also be worth checking out for a little more shelter and some quality peaks.

Some rocks, gets rippy, especially when big. Crowded, limited parking, lots of beginners and surf schools. Paid parking either on east headland for rivermouth peaks, or in Bigbury-on-sea for the more sheltered end.
