Whitsand Bay is a huge 7km stretch of beachbreak peaks, running from Polhawn in the south through to the military land (access restricted) around Tregantle fort, eventually reaching neighbouring Portwrinkle. Gets a lot of Plymouth surfers, as its one of the most consistent beachbreaks in the area, but fortunately can hold a crowd. Works tide round - lower tends to be better to the westerly Tregantle and Sharrow end, higher to the easterly, which also tends to get more swell.

Shetlered from N/NE winds along length and E at the south eastern end.

Beginner friendly when small, but gets rippy as it gets shoulder high up - intermediates+ only. No parking near the beach - walking access from Tregantle or various other places along length of beach
