Sand at low to mid, shingle towards high tide, Withernsea works on all tides barring high high, when it hits sea wall. Limited wind shelter, groynes mid to high tide, brutal longshore and rippy when big. Often polluted, and can be crowded. Easy access and parking. Cafes & facilties in town. During summer lulls, infrequent N swells that've already passed through North Yorkshire spots can be chased down here.

When too big Hornsea and Fraisthorpe can offer increasing shelter.
